Jay began his career in the Impressionist and Modern Art department at Christie’s, where he spent nearly three decades developing deep client relationships and a strong, trusted presence in the market.
He held a number of senior leadership roles in the company, including heading the London department during the record-breaking market of the 2010s. During this time he managed a team of forty people and helped shape the next generation of auction professionals.
More recently, Jay led the European Private Sales department, overseeing a period that delivered some of the highest annual private sales totals in the company’s history.
Jay holds a Master’s degree in History of Art from the University of Cambridge and is a keen tennis player.
